Below are a few example projects from previous Sports Lit classes-- pay attention to how the projects are structured and what elements are included.
Yes, some of these projects are not perfect, but have strengths in how they address some of the required elements of the project.
Keep in mind that all of the project presentations need to address the following in separate/individual slides:
2. Give an outline of the sport: How is it played? What are the rules or special considerations of the sport?
3. Why should we consider this activity a sport? What makes it extreme?
4. What equipment, training, or preparation is necessary for success in this sport?
5. Does this sport have different styles or “games”?
6. Describe the nature of the competitions and any type of “championship”.
7. Pick a representative athlete for this sport. Describe why this athlete is successful, what he/she has achieved in the sport, and why he/she serves as a representative. (This does not have to be a person who is the current champion… it could be the person who developed the sport or has a role in its popularity)
