This course explores the elements of nonfiction. You will learn to examine and evaluate nonfiction texts on both on a critical and personal level through reading responses, tests/quizzes, journal entries, and discussion. This course contains elements of reading, research writing, vocabulary and grammar. Students will read and respond to nonfiction essays in coordination with the MCA test next spring; write reflections on those essays; learn MLA citation and research process; study vocabulary prefixes, suffixes, and roots; and review parts of speech, phrases and clauses.
