After reading three Langston Hughes poems ("Theme for English B," "I, Too," and "Mother to Son"), you will select a poem for a response, so pick a poem that you feel you can discuss not only as a personal response, but also analyze the content.
Your response should include:
- a minimum of three direct quotations from the poem (a line, a word, a phrase...)-- be sure to analyze what this might mean or why you included it
- a brief discussion of what you think the poem means using direct references to the content
- use your knowledge of literary terms
- a personal connection to the poem
Length should be at least 3/4 page written or typed
