This PD module is designed for anyone who currently facilitates adult learning (e.g., via CPT, ILT, or school-wide professional development) and is interested in developing a deep understanding of effective facilitation practices as well as curating a robust facilitator’s tool kit. This session may also be beneficial for a team to attend together to build share understanding of what goes into effective meeting planning, facilitation, and participation.
This professional development is an opportunity for new and experienced facilitators to learn about and practice effective facilitation moves. Facilitating a team or a PD session requires a skill set in which few of us have been trained. An effective facilitator builds shared consensus, guides adults through decision making processes, asks probing questions, manages team dynamics, assesses learning needs, plans purposeful meetings and creates space for productive conflict. Through participation in this PD module, participants will learn about and practice effective facilitation techniques, self-assess areas of strength and opportunities for growth as a facilitator, give and receive feedback on meeting agendas and facilitation moves and practice fostering productive conflict.
