NCBM 0270 / MATD 0370 Elementary Algebra with  Foundations Corequisite

About this course

MATD 0370 is only offered as a course pairing with NCBM 0270. Students are required to sign up for both courses. This is a path for STEM students to increase their developmental math skills prior to taking a higher course pairing. Only students who place into the NCBM 0270 course are allowed to take this course pairing. This course pairing does not make students TSI Complete. After successful completion of MATD 0370, students are eligible for:

Students who would place higher than NCBM 0270 are advised to take an Express Corequisite such as MATD 0414/MATH 1314 Algebra Express, MATD 0444/MATH 1414 College Algebra for Precalculus Express, or MATD 0424/MATH 1324 Business Math ExpressStudents placing near college-ready have the option to take higher-level course pairings. Students should see an advisor for correct placement.

Students enrolled in this pairing will get foundation algebra help during their NCBM 0270 meeting time helping them to prepare for work on the elementary algebra objectives covered in MATD 0370 class.  The course will use “just in time remediation” integrating foundational skills right before they are needed in the elementary algebra course.

Meeting times

This is a 6 hour paired course - 2 hours for NCBM 0270 and 4 hours for MATD 0370.  Students are required to register and pay for both courses. The cost of an electronic textbook is included with the cost of tuition.

Who should take the course pairing

Students should see an ACC Advisor for placement and review Course Flow Charts for more information about course sequences. This course pairing prepares students for corequisite pairings in our STEM, Business, and Education paths.

Students who plan to take only Non-STEM math courses are advised to consider the NCBM 0222/MATD 0485 Developing Mathematical Thinking with Foundations course pairing as an alternative.

For more information about courses and prerequisites, see the Course Flow Charts

Course Expectations

Students are expected to spend 12 to 18 hours every week on their math courses for the entire semester and attend all class meetings and complete all assignments on time.
