1. STUDY FOR YOUR TEST ON THURSDAY. The test is 25 multiple choice and 5 short answer questions

2. If you have not finished the book, please do

3. Tomorrow is the last day that I will be accepting handouts, please check your grades

4. Get lots of sleep this week, go to bed early ! :)

What did we do today?

1.Take out your handouts from the weekend, Write any questions you have about 451 now that we have finished the book. Or, if you do not have any immediate questions, write a few short answer questions that you think will be on the test

2. Now, exchange your questions with your assigned partner. Take the next five to 8 minutes to write answers to your partners questions

3. Class discussion time! Who wants to volunteer a good question that a peer wrote? Then someone else in the class can answer

Additional Mr. Jensen questions

1. Bradbury has stated that the novel is not about censorship, but since Captain Beatty cites censorship as one of the main reasons books ended up banned, I’m going to ask you this question anyway: where can we draw the line with appropriate censorship and shameless destruction of information?

2. Bradbury says his novel is about TV replacing books, not about censorship. Does he get to say what his book is about? Is he “right”? explain your answer

3. Does Guy get “half out of the cave” by the end of the novel? Is Plato’s cave a useful metaphor for this novel? Why or why not?

4. Does the violence prevalent in the futuristic world of this novel comment in any way on our own society? Do we, in a way, love violence as well? Is there anything wrong with that? What’s healthy and what’s not? EXPLAIN YOUR ANSWER

5. Are books actually the way to prevent this type of society, why or why not?

For the end of class,

Look at the original question you had at the beginning of class on your handout. Do your best to answer it now. When you are finished, turn in your handouts from the weekend to me.
