What Did we do today?
1. We took a quiz. (See Mr. Jensen if you missed it)
2. We wrote an essay answering ONE of the following prompts
- discuss Montag’s relationship with Mildred. Is this a typical marital relationship in their culture?
- Describe Clarisse’s effect on Montag and her purpose in the novel. How and why does she change him? Why does she vanish from the novel?

- Discussed part 1 with table partners for 10 min before the quiz

- SSR: read pages 71-85---Take notes in YOUR NOTEBOOK...1-3 details/info per page to keep up with plot elements and what happens in the story.

Today we:
1.Take 20 minutes to finish your paper/edit the paper of the person sitting next to you
2. Class discussion: Take notes on your 81-91 handout in question 3
- What does Guy mean when he says : “Maybe the books can get us half out of
the cave.” (p. 74)
- On page 75, Guy remembers his first encounter with Faber. What important
observation did Faber make? How does this show us his true identity?
- what does Montag mean on page 81 you’re the only one who can see?
- Montag says the walls are “yelling at me” explain what he mans, how are books changing him?
- On pages 91 and 92, how does the author use foreshadowing to create the mood?

- Discussed what an ARCHETYPE is and talked about the characters of Montag, Clarisse, Mildred, Beatty, and Faber

- Write for five minutes about the questions. Then turn to the person sitting next to you and pair up your ides, then we will share them as a class

3. How do Mrs. Phelps and Mrs Bowles react to Guy’s poetry reading?
4. Why did Montag wash his hands so often? What is symbolic about this?
5. What did Captain Beatty do after Montag returned to the firehouse? (p. 105-108

1. Finish 451 by Tuesday + the final handout
2. You will have a unit test on 451 on Thursday the 24th. It will be open note if they have been checked by me. You will staple your notes to your exam.
3. Finish any missing handouts by Tuesday CHECK YOUR GRADES
4. Please turn in your 111-120 worksheet to me. No class discussion today :(

Prompt: write from the point of view of another character in 451. What do they think about the society?
2. Had Friday work time! Take this time to work on any missing handouts that you have or any assignments that you haven’t turned in.
If you’re done, read the last part of 451 that you have for the weekend and start the worksheet!
