Our Neighbourhood
Most of the following amenities are all within walking distance (5-10 minutes). The map at the left shows the following health care options: at Keele & Sheppard, Dr Bageria & Le on the North side, the Keele & Shoppers Walk In clinic on the South side. At Jane & Sheppard we have Dr. Leung, Cianfrone & Chapman on the North side. There is a pharmacy at Keele & Sheppard as well as Jane & Sheppard.
You might also want to talk to a registered nurse 24/7: 1-866-797-0000 (TeleHealth Ontario).
There are quite a few dentists as well: Dr Miciu, Farber and CFD at Jane & Sheppard and Dr Brown & Maqueira at Keele & Sheppard.
However, with so many parks, greenery, good air quality, open and smiling people, it is unlikely that you will need to see a doctor more often than your annual check-up. :)

Schools
Several high-standards catholic schools in the area: Blessed Margherita and others. We also have the following public schools (Ward 4, York West):
Community Center & Park
Located on the same street, the Northwood Community Centre has an outdoor swimming pool with a water slide, a water mushroom, a soccer court, basketball court and even weight training room. Numerous courses are offered by the city at low or fully subsidized prices: Ballroom Dancing, Yoga, Pilates etc.
Few other areas have at least half as many parks as we do. Our house is surrounded by the Northwood Park, but several other parks can actually be seen on the map. All parks have barbecue facilities and follow a river.
Supermarkets
Price Chopper: Jane & Sheppard (flyer)
There are also several ethnic supermarkets (Vietnamese, Italian, South American) at both Jane + Keele & Sheppard. Additional supermarkets may be found at Jane & Finch as well as Keele & Finch, though they are a bit further away. Highland Farms (flyer) is located North of Finch and Dufferin.
Libraries
Two libraries are located at Jane & Sheppard - one in the Mall, the other in a brand new building with large windows east of Price Choppers, along Sheppard. The Yorkwoods Library is located on the South side of Finch Ave, on the way to York University / Seneca College.
Dry Cleaners
There are two dry cleaners at Jane & Sheppard.
Gas Stations
Esso at Jane & Sheppard, Shell at Keele & Sheppard (price).
Churches
The closest church is catholic, on Jane Street, 5-10 minutes walk. There is also a large Presbyterian Church on Sheppard, west of Jane.
Emergency Services
The Humber River Regional Hospital is only minutes away by car, at Finch and Oakdale Rd. The Toronto Police 31 Division HQs are located at 40 Norfinch Dr (W of Jane and Finch) and their phone number for non-emergencies is 416-808-3100
Self-Storage
A quick Google search http://g.co/maps/6r2yb returns SpeedyStorage.com, JiffyStorage.com, YorkdaleSelfStorage.com, CentronStorage.com and many others. Most charge $50-100/month for their smallest storage unit and some even have mailboxes for $125/year.
Convenience stores and Malls
There are convenience stores in every major intersection. The closest convenience store is located at Arleta & Sheppard, in the lobby of a building. The closest mall is located at Jane & Sheppard. The Yorkdale Mall is located off Wilson subway station, about 15-20 minutes by TTC or 10-15 minutes by car.
