Humidifier

A few days ago, I noticed that the ambient humidity had dropped precipitously. This is an AirKing Wait 6000 flow-through whole house (furnace) humidifier.

background

Warranty (PDF) is only one year and instructions (PDF) are also available online. It is no longer sold but was discussed in several threads on rfd. Parts are available from the manufacturer AirKing main store as well as locally,

problem

When realizing it's not working, my first thought was that the filter needed to be changed,

so I purchased a new one. As it turns out, the filter did not come with the filter tray, which was missing, so I ordered one from the manufacturer:

Again, it didn't work:

There are some forum suggestions, but I will most likely have to try these troubleshooting steps:

There's info on how solenoid valves work and how to fix them:

    1. disconnect power wires

    2. with furnace working and humidistat to max, test if solenoid valve getting 24 V

    3. if getting power -> new valve

    4. if voltmeter stuck on zero, control circuit or humidistat

    5. you can also take out the solenoid valve, supply it with a known source of 24V AC current and see if it clicks

    6. replacing inline strainer (black rubber) on the inlet side of solenoid valve annualy could save your solenoid valve
