Can I keep the bed (or other furniture) shown in the apartment?

Our apartment comes with a mattress, box spring and frame. We ask that you supply a waterproof mattress pad in order to use the bed.

A mattress pad is designed to lie atop an existing mattress. They are made primarily from foam. Their function is to provide a layer of comfort and warmth between the user and the mattress. They are of particular benefit when the existing mattress is worn or uncomfortable. Toppers quite often have a contoured profile to facilitate airflow. Visco-elastic foam toppers are regularly used in medical institutions because of their pressure relieving properties. The foam used in the construction of these memory foam toppers reacts to both pressure and temperature. This combined with its greater density are properties that give them their characteristic "weightlessness" sensation.

You can find it at Costco, Sears and many other stores.

If you would like to buy a brand new bed please provide us with the receipt and on the 12th month anniversary of your stay with us we might be able to give you a rent discount of 50% of the cost of the bed (up to the value of 1-month's rent). Please contact us prior to purchasing the bed to confirm we are still offering this, as our policies can change before being able to update this FAQ. Likewise, if you already have a bed that you would rather use instead of the one that is already in the apartment, that is usually not a problem, provided you mention this before we sign the lease and we agree on removing the bed. However, if for some reason your tenancy terminates earlier than the date agreed upon and you have already replaced our box spring and/or mattress with your own, we ask that you provide us with a set identical in size. If you replace our bed, we also ask that you ensure its proper disposal in case there is a garbage collection strike or nobody takes it from the curb after more than a week of being left there.

Once we signed a lease and move-in checklist we expect you to keep everything that was given to you (e.g., furniture, walls, blinds, carpets, bedding, CFLs, appliances etc) intact. Replacing anything major may necessitate us to store it and charge you for storage. See also Is your place furnished?
