Do you clean our apartment?

It is your responsibility to clean your own unit and maintain it clean. If you cannot or will not do this yourself, you may arrange for a house cleaning service to do this for you at your expense.

If you choose to clean common areas (e.g., the laundry room & common hallways as well as the family room and patio if you use them) once a month, on a rotating schedule with us, we will provide you with a discount negotiable at the time of signing the lease. This includes the following tasks:

    • Vacuum clean the floors. Please vacuum clean quickly even floors you plan on mopping. In the form below please mark it "partial" if vacuum cleaned only.

    • Mop the floors (you may also steam only the tile floors instead of mopping, if you wish), then mark it "full" in the form below.

    • Remove lint from the dryer. If there is dust caused by the dryer in the laundry room please remove it as well. Mark "partial" in the list if you removed the lint from the dryer only and "full" if you removed it from the entire room.

    • Empty the recycling bin trays if full in the blue bin outside.

    • Push the bins to the curb on Thursday evening if they are not there already. The green bin must be taken weekly but only if there is something inside and the brown / blue bin alternating every week. You may find out the correct bin by consulting the calendar in the laundry room or simply looking at what the other neighbours on the street have taken to their curb. Mark this "partial" if you have only taken it one way and "full" if you have both taken to and from the curb.

    • Clear the 20-30 m pathway leading to the side-door of snow on your week if necessary as well as the pathway leading to and including your front-yard parking spot if you have any. This can often be achieved with the push broom under the stairs, starting with the stairs at the highest level and going down all the way to the sidewalk. This is usually necessary only a few times in the winter. It is particularly important to push the snow or slush away when it is melting because it can freeze overnight. Mark it "partial" if you managed to remove the snow and there was no need to remove the ice.

    • If there is ice on the pathway, right next to the shovels there is a bucket of de-icer concentrate. It has a measuring cup you can use to spread only a small amount wherever there is ice. Unfortunately, this is far less effective than pushing the snow away and also tends to have a negative effect on the strawberries and grapes we are growing. In the form below please mark "full" if you removed the snow and had to fight with ice (de-icer) as well.

    • If you would like to do any gardening activities or if you are simply interested in consuming some of the fruits or herbs that grow around the house and that need some work, please talk to us before doing anything. If you haven't done any such activity, please do not mark it in any way.

    • When you have finished using the vacuum cleaner, please detach the refuse container by pulling its handle and take it outside using one or more plastic bags. Next to the garbage bins, please remove the lid and empty its contents into one plastic bag, then carefully close the bag and make a knot with the bag handles, then throw it in the garbage (grey) bin. This would be the "partial" action. For the "full", please remove the Hepa filter making sure it does NOT get wet and shake it in the second plastic bag to get rid of the fine dust particles. When done, be sure to tie the bag handles in a knot and throw it in the garbage bin as well.

    • Please note that your week starts on Monday and ends on Sunday. Kindly complete the form below so that we can provide the credit to your next month payment.
