BUCK JONES in HOOFERS

ep. 139 was really ep. 1

BUCK ROGERS IN THE 25TH CENTURY

Episode 732 part 1 was same as 390503 (xxx) The Mechanical Mole - Part 1

Episode 732 part 2 was same as 390505 (xxx) The Mechanical Mole - Part 2

Note that episode part 1 and part 2 are found in a combined 24 minute file. Part 1 has a traditional opening "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century and the shower of silver dollars from Popsicle Pete's money box"

Part 1 ends with "But now stand by for a few words by your favorite announcer and then we'll be back with this thrilling story."

Part 2 begins with "And now let's get back to the world of the future" leading me to believe the two parts are supposed to be combined.

The 390503 file has the "But now stand by" ending cut from the file. The 390505 file does begin with "And now let's".

Based on the beginnings and ends of the shows, this leads me to believe that episode 732 was originally broadcast as one program and the 390503 and 390505 versions were split apart after broadcast by someone trying to create 15 minute shows. However, as the show is not known to have been broadcast as a 30 minute show, this needs further investigation.

The "390503" opening also has "And the shower of silver dollars from Popsicle Pete's money box (sound of coins)" and "Just recently (Buck Rogers and Wilma Deering and Professor Heuing) flew their rocket powered spaceship to the far off planet Jupiter to run down Killer Kane and Ardella."

Yet the opening from what is supposed to be 2 days earlier 390501 has a totally different opening "Buck Rogers is on the air brought to you by the makers of Popsicle, Fudgsicle and Creamsicle, those delicious confections on a stick. Now a message from the boy who won the contest for the most typical American boy, Popsicle Pete."

Show labeled 390517 ends with Buck agreeing to a new mystery assignment.

Show labeled 390519 starts with "We are going to pick up our story on the surface of the moon just as Buck and Wilma discover they have been tricked by Killer Kane and Ardella" This seems to be part of an ongoing story and does not follow from the show labeled 390517.

All this leads me to believe the dates from 390503 forward are bogus and are shows from the 1940 30 minute run of the show.
