Other Applications
These are applications that deal with text for language studies. Some are more elaborated than others. I developed these as I learned new things in programming, so you might find a lot of bugs in some of these. I might work on these when I have time or if I get feedback from people. These are for Mac OS X 10.6.8 or later.
CasualPConc is a simple parallel concordancer. It can handle 2 parallel corpora and perform very simple kwic concordancing. This is still at early stage of development. If I get feedback, I might develop this further.
CasualTextractor is a utility program that can extract text data from many files and web pages that contain text and save it as UTF-8 Plain Text (.txt) or Rich Text (.rtf) files.
CasualTagger is a simple utility to add Part-of-Speech (POS) tags to English text using EngTagger, TreeTagger, MeCab, and Stanford CoreNLP. These applications need to be installed separately. CasualTagger has an built-in installer for TreeTagger. You can find MeCab installer below. It can batch process many file types that contains English text data (EngTagger) and other languages TreeTagger can handle. MeCab handles Japanese. It also has an editor to assist manual tagging of your corpus.
This is a simple installer of MeCab + IPA dictionary.
CasualTranscriber is a transcription helper. It can deal with most of the media files QuickTime Player can handle. You can transcribe audio using shortcuts.
CasualTreeTagger is a GUI front end to TreeTagger. You can install and use TreeTagger with GUI.
IPATypist is an application to help you type IPA characters for English. You need to have Doulos SIL font installed on your Mac.
