Homework

Homework is an essential part of our school program. The purposes for homework are:

To provide a closure to a lesson.
To learn how and where to get information.
To give parents the opportunity to become involved in our program
and familiarize them with the work being done in the classroom.
To strengthen an individual weakness.
Drill to improve, master, and reinforce skills.
To provide opportunity for individual interests, creativity and investigation.
To compliment and enrich classroom activities.
To complete “Make-Up” work because of absence.

For homework success, you can:

Provide an appropriate place for the child to study and work.
Plan a time when the child is expected to complete homework.
Help (when needed) without doing the assignment for the child.
Occasionally check the assignment, review oral work with the child, pointing out difficulties, but allowing the child to solve them by him/herself, if possible.
Provide encouragement.
Check each day that your child has all necessary items to begin school, IE: homework, books, etc. Children will not be permitted to call home for these items.
