Beekeeper's Corner: Message from the Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians, Thank you for all you have done to support learning for our students this school year. Special thanks to our dedicated staff for their hard work and all their efforts! Please check out information below about an upcoming Fun Day, Summer Reading Challenge, and more! All materials, including iPads are to be returned to the main office the week of June 14th. More info is below. Please don't forget that there will be no school on May 31st for Memorial Day and the last day of school for students will be June 14th.

Summer Reading Challenge

Current Kindergarteners are invited to participate in our Summer Reading Challenge! Students who read 100 books this summer will receive a prize next Fall when they return to Valley Park. Please see links below for more information including the form to complete and return to your child's teacher next year.

Fun Day


Classrooms will be participating in special activities for a Fun Day!
Students in K/1 will enjoy time on the playground equipment, sidewalk chalkdrawings, a virtual field trip, and a popsicle treat outdoors.
Students in preschool will enjoy special activities throughout their day and a popsicle treat for their snack time.
Safety protocols will be in place such as sanitizing equipment between classroom use and masks worn at all times, except during the popsicle treat when students will be outdoors and socially distanced.
Please look for more information from your child's teacher, including the date your child's class is scheduled for their Fun Day. Please contact your child's teacher if you do not want your child to participate in any activity.

READING CONNECTIONS

Learning to read can be a fun and exciting journey for young students. Reading at home is a vital component to a child's success and parents play an important role as partners with school on that journey.




Return of Materials


All materials, including iPads, are to be returned the week of June 14th. If your student is a virtual learner, please label the iPad with your student's name and teacher name before dropping it off at the main office. Thank you!

Attendance

In Person or Virtual


Whether a student is attending school in person or all virtual, attendance is an important factor to learning and success! Elementary attendance expectations can be found HERE.

Health Screenings and Protocols


Persons that do not meet the requirements of the student screening (COVID 19 Screening) of COVID-19 illness will not be admitted into the school building. Parents are to screen students daily using the checklist located in the link.
Staff, students, and parents are highly encouraged to remain home if they have any signs of illness. Return to school guidelines found at COVID-19 Return to School/Work.

Education Foundation

The Ed Foundation is the district-wide Parent and Teacher group that assists with activities and events at the schools. Meetings are held via Zoom this year. More information is available at www.psdnet.org. Please join us to hear about and help with all the wonderful things we have planned for our schools!
