Small Moments- Personal Narratives
Personal narrative writing is our first unit. This unit begins with setting up expectations and procedures for Writing Workshop.
Writers will write personal narratives that focus on a small event with great detail. We will use the analogy of a "seed" story vs a "watermelon" story.
Writers will learn to write with a beginning, middle, and end. They will be learning to write feelings, details, and transition words.
We will study mentor texts to learn writing features to make their writing stronger, including: bold words, ellipses, and feelings.
Writers will begin revising and editing their favorite piece to share.
Writers should be producing 3 or more pages of drawing and/or writing per day.
