Scenes to Series- Realistic Fiction

We will be moving back to fiction writing with Realistic fiction. This is a fun unit for students because they get to make up pretend characters and pretend realistic adventures for their characters to have.

Students will learn skills such as:

  • narrate a story or experience.
  • write a good beginning
  • use details to describe the story or experience.
  • Have a problem and solution
  • place events in the order they occurred.
  • use linking words to indicate beginning/middle/end.
  • write a good ending
  • Drawing pictures that match the words and add more detail to the story

Students will pick their favorite character they have made and write a series of books on that character.

They will revise and edit and publish their favorite book at the end of the unit.

Students should be completing at least one book a day during independent writing time.
