CHILD DEVELOPMENT - ECED 2500 (43240)
Students will understand the aspects of child growth and development, positive guidance techniques, and child-related issues. Learning activities, observation techniques, and lab experiences in working with young children may be included. This course will strengthen comprehension of concepts and standards outlined in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) education. Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) supports student leadership and has competitive events that may be an integral part of the course.

For students considering a career in child care and teaching, this is the ultimate hands-on experience!! The primary focus of this class is to complete steps required for the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential through this on-site early childhood educational experience. Students will explore the exciting world of teaching; examine what it means to be a teacher; and participate in field observations. This course is designed to introduce students to personal and professional experiences within the educational community. This course or an approved equivalent, is a prerequisite to elementary and secondary licensure programs in the department of teacher education at Weber State University. (2 PERIOD BLOCK)

This is the NEW Completer Course for the K-12 Teaching as a Profession pathway. This course examines the
principles of educational instruction and prepares future educators to differentiate to meet the needs of all
students using educational technology tools. Students will explore ways technology can be used to enhance
student autonomy in the classroom while protecting student data. Students will evaluate technology tools
based on student learning intentions, develop a professional digital presence, engage with evidence-based
information, and identify benefits of collaboration within a professional learning network. Students will
develop and design a course within a Learning Management System (LMS) that is accessible for all students
and supports student learning outcomes.
