PHS vs. WHS Volleyball Game: Rival Game

On September 16, the Pioneer High Girls Volleyball team played against the Woodland High School Girls Volleyball team. The girls were coming off a victory against Woodland Christian and were hopeful they could keep their streak going.

Junior Varsity first came out strong, taking a 25-21 lead in the first set of the match. With the momentum from the first set, the JV team pushed forward and won the second set with a score of, 25-20.

Up next was the Varsity team. The Lady Patriots were not only coming off a recent JV win but also a resounding win Vs. Woodland Christian, their momentum was sky-high. The Patriots started the set poorly but ended up clawing back. Eventually, the score became dead-even, 24-24. Sadly, the Lady Patriots ended up conceding the 2 points and lost the set 24-26.

Coming off of the incredibly close 1st set, the Patriots tried to rally and fire back with a set win of their own. Unfortunately, the start of the 2nd set was very similar to their 1st set, with Woodland taking an early lead. The Patriots fought back, bringing the score to a tie and then even taking the lead, but they would eventually lose the set 23-25.

Moving into the 3rd set, the Patriots tried to claw their way back into the game with their first set of the day. Unlike the last 2 sets, the Patriots started the set even with the Wolves, constantly trading points. As the tail-end of the set approached, both teams had 20 points each, but Woodland scored 5 points in a row, and we lost the set 20-25 and the match 0-3.

The Lady Patriots fought hard in both their matches Vs. Woodland Christian and Woodland High. They are currently working hard and getting ready for their next match Vs. Dixon, which will take place on September 28th, at home.
