Wins, Losses, and Goodbyes

Ariana Mundaca-Lopez - November 18th, 2022

This entire night had many people going through a rollercoaster of emotions. On Friday October 21, both our JV and Varsity football teams went against Casa Roble. The JV team won the game with a score of 13 to 6. Max Pineda (18), a freshman on the JV team, felt that his team could have made more touchdowns, but he was overall proud with their win. Daniel Ramirez (57) on the JV team claimed that everyone was trying to maintain good sportsmanship even though most of them weren’t in the right mindset.

Once the JV game ended, we celebrated our seniors who were part of Band, Football, and Cheer. It was a heartfelt celebration for everyone who had attended the game. The seniors were accompanied by their families as they walked down the field. They received DIY baskets that were made by their peers. Some of the staff also provided information about the seniors as they were walking. The crowd gave their final applause to the seniors before welcoming the Varsity football team.

Everyone cheered as our Patriots made their way onto the field for the final game of the night. The game was overall intense since the referees would give one of the teams a flag every few plays. Unfortunately, Casa Roble ended up scoring in the first half which had them by the lead. Our Patriots tried their hardest in the first half but weren’t able to score. During halftime, all of the grade levels showcased their floats. The audience was able to see all their hard work and creativity. Soon after, the second half had begun. Pioneer was able to score in the last 5 minutes of the 3rd quarter with a touchdown by Rolando Ramos Jr. (11). In the fourth quarter, Rolando made his second touchdown of the night which changed our score to 12. Pioneer ended up losing against Casa Roble with a final score of 12 to 22.

One of the coaches claimed that “although the game didn’t end up with the result they wanted, the players had the best effort he had seen all year.” Our team played their best and kept a fair play throughout the game.
