Homecoming's Successful Spirit Week!

As the first Pioneer Homecoming since the return to in-person school after a year and a half of stifling virtual education, students participated in float building, walked in shopping cart parades, and attended sports events with unprecedented enthusiasm this year. One of the more prominent aspects of Homecoming Week was the unique and exciting set of spirit days, held on each of the five days of the week.

Monday kicked off the week with Decades Day. Students wore outfits from as early as the 1950s, sporting varsity jackets and other retro apparel. Any time travelers on campus would probably have been very confused about what year they had stopped in!

Students got cozy with Pajama Day on Tuesday, keeping warm in hoodies, blankets, and flannel plaid. This classic spirit day was a nice throwback to the standard school uniform of last year’s distance learning—although this time around, students had to actually get out of bed to go to school.

Wednesday was White Lies Day. Students were asked to wear white shirts with lies written on them. This new and interesting spirit day was a fun way to mark the middle of the week.

On Thursday, students donned khakis, sweaters, and collared shirts for Prep Day. Walking through campus felt like being transported from Pioneer to Princeton.

Black and Gold Day appropriately wrapped up an action-packed week. Students and teachers wore Pioneer apparel, like shirts and hoodies, or rocked their own glittery garb to exhibit their Patriot Pride.

This year’s spirit days were a fantastic way to amp up the energy for the culmination of Homecoming Week: the Friday night football game and float parade. Although it is unfortunate that no dance was held, ASB hopes to make things up by hosting a movie night sometime soon. Students hoping to get their fill of homecoming activities should make sure to attend.
