Homecoming Week: Club Shopping Cart Parade

Homecoming week at Pioneer includes many traditions from spirit days to float building. One of these traditions, the shopping cart parade, took place Thursday, October 14 at lunch. The parade started outside the D3 building and continued between the Science Building and Library, before ending at the Counselling Office.

The goal was for each club to decorate a shopping cart to fit the theme of Homecoming week, and possibly try to connect it to the club’s purpose. Each club was judged by a panel of judges who decided which club had the best shopping cart decorations. Each club had a week to complete their decorations.

This year we saw participation from a lot of different clubs, each with a different theme. Some of these themes included the Lorax, Frankenstein, Grey’s Anatomy, Up, and many more. Each shopping cart was uniquely decorated and showed a lot of creativity. Some clubs even had their members dress up to match their cart and walk alongside it.

The winner of the shopping cart parade was Best Buddies. They won with the theme of Up by decorating the cart to look like the house from the movie and even including the balloons on the roof. Overall, the design was very creative and well built.

Many people enjoyed watching the parade and cheering on the clubs at lunch. There was a lot of effort shown from everyone who participated and all the shopping carts looked great.
