Why 0.9 Lead is Horrible

My raw and honest opinion on 0.9 Lead, what I don’t like and why:

(This is purely my opinion and is in no way bashing those who like 0.9 lead, this is just my review on it)

In school, a pencil is one of those things you just can’t live without. You’re going to always need one whether you need it for notes or an assignment on paper. Because of this, everyone has a pencil on them that they like to write with, whether that be a mechanical pencil, a number 2 pencil, or even an erasable pen. Many like to use mechanical pencils, myself included, but there are many types of leads used with these pencils, there are some thick leads and some thin ones. With my 12 years of experience writing with a pencil, I have found that 0.9 lead is one of the worst ones you can write with. For example, 0.9 lead is just too thick. Though there are thicker leads out there, 0.9 is considered an average lead size to use in the classroom, BUT IT'S TOO THICK. It takes up way too much space compared to other leads, and it just feels thick to write with. One stroke with the lead feels like it was written with a jumbo pencil rather than a regular pencil. (See picture for reference) I understand the argument that because 0.9 lead is thick, some may believe that it is better for students to be able to write bigger. While that may be true in some cases, in the classroom when someone is taking notes and needs to fit everything on one page, bigger handwriting is just less efficient because one cannot fit everything they need to. It is better to use a thinner pencil lead so one can alternate between writing small and big. 0.9 lead can be too big to write small efficiently. Although I cannot say what objectively is the best or the worst pencil lead because I have not tried them all, 0.7 lead is way better than 0.9. It is thinner, it takes up less space, and it is the perfect lead to write big and small with. I mean I feel like I could write the Declaration of Independence more with a 0.7 lead rather than 0.9 because of how perfect it is. Though at the end of the day, it does not matter what pencil lead you use because you just need something to write with, and it is perfectly fine if your preferred lead is 0.9, just remind me to not borrow your pencil.
