TECHNOLOGY: Every student K-5th will be provided a Chromebook in their classroom. Technology will be infused into classroom instruction. Our chromebooks essential function as our modern day textbooks and are valuable instructional resources. Our entire school has access to Wi-Fi for all school-issued devices. Students are not allowed access to school technological devices without parental approval. A Chromebook Usage Fee will be collected at the beginning of the school year. If needed, you may apply for Needs Based Assistance. Click here WCS Needs Based Assistance Application Students must adhere to WCS Board Policy 4312 in order to use technology provided by the school. With parent permission, Chromebooks may be take home with the students. Please ensure they are charged throughout the evening and return to school fully charged.
One-to-One Devices: Students will be assigned Chromebooks. Parents must complete a signed AUP in Infinite Campus before being assigned a Chromebook. At the parents' request, students who have paid the Technology Fee will be allowed to take their Chromebooks home. Those who have not will be considered day users. These students' Chromebooks will be collected at the end of the day by their teachers. Students who take their Chromebooks home will be responsible for charging them, so they return fully charged each day.
Technology Fees: Annual Student Fee = $30. Parents can complete a Needs Based Assistance Google Form to have their tech fees waived (bit.ly/wcsneeds24).
Gaggle: As a school district, Wilson County Schools is required by The Child Internet Protection Act to filter and monitor the online activity and school-based email accounts of our students. Our district is currently using a monitoring system called Gaggle. Gaggle will flag concerning emails and notify the principal and the school counselor. Please report any inappropriate activity on technology to the principal.
Lost & Found: Chromebooks and chargers that are found or confiscated for disciplinary reasons should be taken to the Media Center.
BOOKS:
Students are expected to show respect for all books. When books are damaged or lost, they must be paid for in a timely manner. Students and parents are held responsible for all books assigned, loaned, or checked out of the library or classroom. It is possible that parents may be asked to pick up their child’s report card so that damaged or lost books may be paid for at that time.
