It has been a week of awesome achievements, particularly from our Years 3 - 6 Chamber Choirs and Orchestra, who performed on Wednesday evening at the Royal Albert Hall in the Music for Youth Proms concert. After a long and intense afternoon of rehearsals with the other 1000 musicians, we enjoyed a short dinner break and quick explore at the nearby Science Museum. A challenging programme of vocal and instrumental music kicked off at 7pm, with a late night had by all after 9.45pm finish!! Many thanks to all students for your efforts and commitment in preparing the pieces, one of which was a world premiere of a new work. Thanks also to the staff who supported the children throughout the day and evening and of course, to parents, family and friends who came to watch our big moments in this iconic, world-famous venue. I think we all agree that it was worth it!
In other news, Danny (Year 4) achieved first place in the piano section of the Under-8 age category at the Sutton Music Festival. Additionally, he and his younger sister, Julie, participated in a duet performance, earning the highest score across the entire duet piano category at Kingston Music Festival. Their outstanding performance has earned them an invitation to the winners' concert in December, where they will receive a trophy.
