This week we have been looking at friction and conducting lively experiments to find out how it works. We covered a ramp with different surfaces and measured the height at which a car started to move on each one. Then we used the ramp with a variety of shoes to see which had the best grip and found the mean of our tests to get the most accurate result. We predicted correctly that the trainer would win! In Maths we worked on multiplication and played 6 times table bingo (rather competitively) and did some MyMaths on Chromebooks. Gregory continues to suffer in Tobago and we used our empathy skills to write his daily diary entries. We loved acting out scenes predicting what will happen next.
We will find out next week. Geography saw us debating the pros and cons of a proposal to build a new leisure centre on Wimbledon Common. It was argued that it could be a great asset to the area and provide jobs and entertainment but it would be a shame to destroy the natural environment there. By a whisker the plan was rejected in one class, with a tie in the other! In Classics we made a Roman clock and for PHSE we thought about hazards, particularly close to water.
Have a lovely weekend. Only two more weeks of term!
