Another busy week for us here in Year 6!
In Maths, we had the second round of ISEB11+ testing, so those not involved worked on the Jumping Frogs Puzzle, the Tower of Hanoi and other juicy puzzles or problems and strategy games. The remainder of the week was spent revising what we know about angles and learning about the angles we find in parallel lines. This week the focus has been on the part of A Christmas Carol when Scrooge see his past Christmas when he worked for Mr Fezziwig. We have made comparisons between these characters and are tracking Scrooge's changing attitude as the story develops. On Friday morning, during form time, we enjoyed debating the world's great inventions with the visiting grandparents - the Year 6 consensus was that paper is the greatest innovation. of all time.
In Humanities, we learnt about what life was like for people under Shang rule, and how the class you were born into would impact your life choices. In Geography, we have been analysing the positive and negative effects of the Three Gorges Dam on the communities that live near to the Yangtze river, and adding more key facts to our Knowledge Organisers.
In Drama this week, we continued watching excerpts of Bugsy Malone, then talked through characters and gave out audition pieces. Over the next few weeks, the Year 6 pupils will have the chance to impress the 'judges panel' with their acting and singing skills! In Science, we started our new topic on magnetism. We reviewed our prior knowledge to prepare for practical investigations next week.
Have a great weekend!
