Highlights galore in Year 1 this week! As part of Cultural Heritage Month, it was a delight to welcome some parents from South Korea to share their rich culture and give us a taste of some culinary delicacies! Rehearsals for our Christmas nativity began in earnest with the arrival of the stage, and the children really impressed us with their focus and participation. And Grandparents' Day was a marvellous ending to the week, as we made festive paper chains with our visitors and showed them around the school.
There was time for work too, and in English we became authors once more, to create our own versions of The Magic Paintbrush. Maths saw us learning about halves and practising finding halves of amounts. In Science, we discovered how animals cope with the change of season to Winter, by migrating, hibernating or adapting. The Arctic fox was our favourite!
In History, we learnt that there was no electricity in Victorian times and were then able to 'spot the difference' between what you now find in a modern kitchen compared to that period. In Geography, we looked at the climate in countries around the Equator, before zoning in on Singapore and packing an imaginary suitcase to visit there. Top tip - take an umbrella!
Have a wonderful weekend, and we look forward to seeing you at the upcoming Christmas events.
