This week in Reception has been filled with exciting learning and festive fun! The children explored new black cat sounds, y, z, and qu. To reinforce their phonics learning, we tasted yellow yoghurt, crafted zebras, and created dazzling crowns fit for queens. These hands-on activities made the sounds come alive, helping the children connect their learning to real-world experiences. In maths, we recapped 2D shapes, revisiting squares, circles, triangles, and rectangles before moving on to learn about the numbers 19 and 20. The children enjoyed counting, grouping, and identifying these numbers in playful ways.
The classroom was abuzz as we practised for our Christmas sing-along, filling the air with cheerful songs. The children also helped decorate our classroom, taking great pride in trimming the Christmas tree with ornaments and tinsel. Through a mix of creativity, collaboration, and fun, this week has been a wonderful opportunity for the children to build their skills while embracing the joy of the season. Their enthusiasm and hard work have been inspiring, setting the stage for a magical December ahead!
The children also enjoyed showing their grandparents around, and Florence's parents finished our week with a lovely talk about the United Kingdom.
We wish you a wonderful weekend.
