Dear parents/carers,
We are really pleased that our breakfast club is such a well used and valued resource. Bookings are plentiful so to ensure safety of all children, and to comply with adult/child ratios required, we are asking that any bookings made for a breakfast club space are made in advance and by 7.30pm the night before it is needed. This will allow us to ask additional staff to come into work the following morning.
This means from today, you will no longer be able to book a space for breakfast club after 7.30pm for the following morning.

Dear families
Following the popularity of our chocolate apples at our Hog n’ Hop, we are delighted to offer the children the opportunity to purchase another one of these delicious treats at the end of this half term in the same way we did last year.
Our fabulous chocolate apples will be sold to order at their usual cost of just £2 each. The apples will be delivered to your child’s class at the end of the school day on Friday 24th October. You may order as many apples as you wish.
To ensure we have enough apples ready for everyone who wants one, we are taking orders and payment in advance. Payment of £2 per apple should be made via the School Shop on Arbor by 4pm on Friday 17th October at the latest.
Please order the total number of apples you would like as a family, making only one payment of the full amount and place your order against your eldest child’s name.
The apples will be packaged in paper bags so please be ready to enjoy them straight away or, if you are purchasing a number of apples to take home, you may wish to bring a suitable container to carry them.
Thank you for your continued support.

We want to make you aware of a recent issue affecting some popular children’s books by Andrew Cope, including the Spy Dogs, Spy Cats, and Spy Pups series.
Some editions of these books include a printed web address at the back. This link used to go to the author’s website, but the domain is no longer under his control. It has since been taken over by another party and now leads to inappropriate adult content.
The publisher, Puffin, has paused sales and distribution of the books and is working with schools, libraries, and retailers to remove copies from circulation. They have stressed that the website has no connection to the author or publisher.
What this means for you:
If your child has any Spy Dog, Spy Cat or Spy Pups books at home, please check the back for website links and make sure they do not try to visit the site.
It is safe for children to continue reading the stories themselves — the concern is only with the outdated link.

Dear Parents/Carers,
We all understand how important it is to support children’s mental health, but we also know that finding the right advice can sometimes be challenging.
Please see the attached information about upcoming drop-in sessions, which are designed to offer guidance and support for families. These are run by CAMHS (Hampshire Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) and additional support can be found on their website CAMHS where you can find links to a range of topics such as anxiety and school transition.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Kind regards,
Emily Pompa

Dear parents and families,
Our PTA have been super busy behind the scenes working on some fabulous community events which are coming up in the next month.
Halloween Trail - we need spooky houses!
Following the success of the past few year's Halloween trails, we are running this community event again on 31st October 2025. The Halloween trail consists of a map of safe houses that families can 'trick or treat' at. Families buy a map from the school's PTA in advance for a small cost meaning the school community are all out together creating a fantastic atmosphere.
In order to do this, we need families who are willing to be 'spooky houses'.
Your commitment:
Be available on 31st October from 5pm-7pm to give out sweets to wrist band wearers, outside of your home, not inside
Be able to decorate the outside of your home in a spooky way
Be happy for your address to be listed as part of the Halloween Trail.
Our commitment:
We will provide signage for your house to let everyone know you are part of an organised event
We will provide you with sweets to give out to wrist band wearers.
If you are able to offer your home for this event , please let us know by using the following form by Friday 3rd October 2025: Spooky House sign up
Halloween Trail - we need trick or treaters!
Children with tickets will be able to creep around the locality to collect treats (or tricks!) from designated houses located on the map. Fancy dress encouraged!
You can buy a ticket to this spooktackular event by sending in £2.50 per child in a named envelope, with class name, by Wednesday 15th October. Families buying for more than one child should put all money and information in one envelope. Children will be sent home with their tickets and maps on Monday 21st October. Unfortunately, you will be unable to buy a ticket for the event after Wednesday 15th October as the PTA will be purchasing enough treats for everyone based on orders submitted by this date.
PTA Volunteers needed
We love our Parent Teacher Association (PTA) who raise a lot of funds for the school to purchase extras for the children where budgets cannot stretch. Over the past few years, the PTA have funded the Year R shelter, laptops, laptop trolleys, pop up gazebos, Year R welcome books, Year 6 leavers ice creams and much more! However, we also need volunteers to help, so parents and other family members are welcome to join. There is no need to commit to all events but without volunteers we can't run events for our community. Please email sophie_murton@hotmail.com if you are interested in helping out.
AGM
All families are invited to our Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday 5th December from 9-9.30am in the school hall. This meeting is a good opportunity to find out more about the PTA and how it runs.

Dear All,
We’re reaching out to see if anyone within the school community, or beyond, has access to a portable 3D printer and would be willing to visit our Year 6 classes at Wicor for a morning on Wednesday, 22nd October 2025.
Our Year 6 children are currently designing 3D pencil pots using Tinkercad, and we’d love to bring one of their creations to life with a 3D printer. While we understand that printing a full pencil pot live may take too long, we’re hoping a simpler alternative design could be printed during the visit to demonstrate the process. We also plan to select the best design from each class (two in total) to be printed in advance and presented to the winners on the day.
A short talk about 3D printing and design would be a fantastic addition to inspire the children and deepen their understanding.
If you think you or your company might be able to help support us, please contact me, Gemma Sills at g.sills@wicor.hants.sch.uk to discuss the possibilities.
Warm regards,
Gemma Sills
