Welcome to our Governors’ section
Who are we?
The Governing Body is a voluntary group made up of parents, representatives from the school staff, Local Education Authority and local community working alongside senior leaders and supporting teachers to provide excellent education to children.
What do we do?
Governors are responsible for overseeing the strategic planning and management of the school in relation to improvement, policy, budgeting and staffing, including:
Establishing the vision, strategic framework and priorities for the school (e.g. setting aims and objectives, targets for achievement and policies)
Acting as a 'critical friend' to school leaders by challenging policy, practice and educational outcomes and providing independent advice and support.
Oversight and collaboration on strategic decision-making of the internal organisation, financial management and control of the school
Governors bring a wide range of skills and expertise from their professional lives to the governing board and schools benefit greatly from working with skilled volunteers, for example anyone with experience of finance, law, premises management or human resources.
Interested in becoming a school governor?
The Governing Body is always interesting in hearing from parents and the community who may be interested in joining the Board.
If you feel you have time or skills that would benefit the team and would like to be involved in helping shape and manage the future of Wicor Primary School, please contact the Chair of Governors or complete the following application form.
