Our students have the opportunity to witness healthcare professionals as we embark on several field trips and have guest speakers interact with our program.

College Credit Information

Suffolk County Community College Beacon Program Informational Letter 2021-22 Academic Year

Parents & Guardians,

The Wm. Floyd Medical Assistant program has a joint relationship with some local colleges and offers an opportunity that allows for your child to obtain some college credit at your discretion. There is NO additional work for the students. All of the course work is already embedded in the program has been approved by the colleges. If you choose to take advantage of this, your child must pass this year and be compliant with the CTE contract in addition to registering through the college.

There are many reasons why our students should consider participating in this program, to name a few:

· Students will get a head start on their college studies.

· Courses are offered at an affordable reduced Beacon Program tuition.

· Convenience of taking college courses during regular HS hours.

· A Suffolk academic transcript is generated and posted electronically on Suffolk’s student portal at the culmination of the course. Credits earned are transferable to many colleges and universities.
