Day School News

September 3, 2022

Dear Day School Community,

We had a wonderful start to the school year! It was amazing to have all of the students back in the classrooms for another year of learning. The first days and weeks of school are so critical for forming relationships with the teacher and classmates. During this time, teachers prepare getting to know you activities and support students with creating classroom expectations. It is very important that we create a safe and comfortable learning environment before students get started with academics.

Mark the date for our back to school night on Thursday, September 15. We look forward to welcoming parents and guardians to the school to meet the teachers and learn about the curriculum for the upcoming school year. Please see more information about back to school night in this newsletter.

We would also like to encourage all parents to get involved in the PTO. We will have board members on hand at Back to School Night to describe what we have planned for this school year. Our first virtual meeting of the school year will be on Wednesday, September 21. All are welcome to attend.

Sincerely,

Chris Louis Sardella, Principal

Chrissy Michaud, Assistant Principal

Free School Meals

We want to update you with exciting news about universal free school meals. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts has decided to extend free school meals for all students through the 2022-2023 school year! This means that breakfast and lunch will continue to be served at no cost to all students.

Please note that even though meals will be free for all, it is very important for families to still complete the household Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals for the 2022-2023 school year. You can view and complete the application HERE . We strongly encourage ALL families to submit this form as it allows us to establish eligibility for P-EBT benefits, bus pass and activity fee waivers and serve families most effectively.

In addition, please consider applying for SNAP, the federal nutrition program that provides eligible residents with monthly financial assistance to purchase groceries. More SNAP information can be found at gettingsnap.org or by calling Project Bread’s FoodSource Hotline at 1-800-645-8333.

The food and nutrition department at Westford Public Schools thanks you for your patience awaiting this news! As always, we are grateful for the opportunity to provide nourishing and healthy meals to all Westford Public School students. Please reach out to Food Service director Colleen Wallace with any questions or concerns: cwallace@westfordk12.us or 978-399-2741.

Yearbook Update

For those of you who still have not received the 2021-22 Day School yearbook, we have received confirmation from TreeRing that books are being mailed directly to homes and should arrive on or before September 9th. If you do not receive your yearbook by the promised date, please contact TreeRing directly at: support@treering.com.

Given the extreme delay, TreeRing will be issuing a refund to each family that ordered a yearbook. If you receive a cancellation notice from TreeRing, please DO NOT take action on this email, as it was issued for processing refunds only.
