Day School News

April 10, 2021

Dear Day School Community,

Thank you very much to all of teachers, parents, and students for making our first week back with our new schedule a success. I appreciate everyone's patience as we worked out the traffic issues on Monday. Many thanks to school resource officer Bernadin and traffic officer Selfridge for recommending successful changes to our traffic pattern. Thank you so much to Cheryl Carpenter, Jose DeMelo, and other staff members for making sure our new traffic flow was a safe and efficient solution. Kudos to Julia Borger Green for making sure our student pick up moved along at the end of the day. By Friday, Mrs. Green shaved considerable time off our initial attempts to get children out the door at the beginning of the week. Finally, thank you so much to our office staff and especially Kathy Norton for making sure all parents received the information they needed to make our operation flow smoothly. There is not enough room in this newsletter to thank all of the people who contributed to this operation. I am truly grateful to everyone in the Day School community for making this happen.

If you walk down the hallways at Day or visit some of our virtual classrooms, you will hear familiar sounds of students learning and having fun. COVID has not broken our spirits and we will continue to persevere! Thank you Day School teachers! You are truly the best.

Sincerely,

Chris Louis Sardella, Principal

Water Bottles

Remember to have your child bring a water bottle each day. The refill stations and fountains remain off.

Bus Riders

Bus riders need to stay in their assigned seats. This is very important for contact tracing should a bus rider have COVID.

Picture Day is Coming

Thu, April 15, 2021

Lifetouch will be on-site at the Day School taking school pictures. Photos will be taken outside near the rear of the building.

This year, as with most things, Picture Day will look a little different.

  • There will be NO class photos -- only individual portraits.

  • There will not be paper tickets -- everything has gone paperless. Students will tell the photographer their name, and the photographer will look it up in their system.

  • Please order online before Picture Day at mylifetouch.com.

RLA students should sign up for an after school photo slot on SignUpGenius.

If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Norton in the Day School Front Office.

WA Last Night

This has been a tremendously difficult year for all Westford families and students. So much has been lost. However, the Westford Academy Class of 2021 has lived through a truly trying and unique experience for a senior class. They have been unable to experience or celebrate, as an entire class together, much of the milestones that come with senior year. The high school years seem so far in the future when your children are in elementary school, but they will be walking through the doors of Westford Academy before you know it! Hopefully they will get the senior year and experiences they will have worked so hard for and will deserve.

While WA Last Night is unable to host its traditional all night lock in at WA, we are planning to give the Class of 2021 a Carnival Celebration to remember. WA Last Night is appealing to the entire Westford community again this year to rally behind the Class of 2021. We understand that the pandemic has adversely impacted many families in the community. If there is any amount you are able to donate to help us, we would greatly appreciate it!

Please donate by sending a check to WA Last Night, PO Box 4079, Westford MA 01886 or
