Day School News

May 29, 2021

Dear Day School Community,

On Friday morning, Day School students participated in our annual Memorial Day Event to honor all of our fallen heroes who have sacrificed their lives in defense of our freedom. Nidhi and Snithik from Mrs. Cargiuolo's fifth grade class began with our raising of the flag and lowering to half mast. This was followed by the pledge of allegiance and the Star Bangled Banner sung by WA honor chorus members. Mrs. Greenwood's class then read poetry related to Memorial Day. Finally. Finally, our fifth grade band played songs and explained the history of Memorial Day. Thank you so much to band director Ms. Gately for coordinating our virtual event.

Though you won’t live to see another day

The red poppies let me smile at your grave

Filling my brain with sweet memories

All the tears I’ve shed under this tree

Now you may rest in peace

I’ll never forget you to say the least

-Gabriella, grade 5

Sincerely,

Chris Louis Sardella, Principal
