Day School News

September 2, 2023

Dear Day School Community,

We had a great start to the school year! We squeaked in our traditional flag raising ceremony and pledge of allegiance before the skies opened up on the first day of school. Many thanks to the teachers and staff who worked hard to make the classrooms welcoming places to learn and grow. We look forward to welcoming all parents and guardians to our back-to-school night on Thursday, September 14. Details and specific times will be shared soon.

Please make sure to complete the Day School Student Information online form by Friday, September 8. Additionally, you can find a link to vehicle ID cards in this newsletter. If you do not have the 2023-2024 green placard, our staff will continue to ask for identification during parent pickup. Please be sure to take care of this items right away. Thanks!

Sincerely,

Chris Louis Sardella, Principal

Day School Library Wishlist

The Norman E. Day School Library has an Amazon Wishlist! Ms. McGann, our School Librarian, has created an Amazon Wishlist of books consisting of popular and award-winning titles, teacher recommendations, and requests by students. At this time, Ms. McGann is encouraging Parents/Guardians/Caregivers to help build our School Library Collection by donating a book from the List. Once a book has been received, it will be added to the Day School Library Collection and a personalized, permanent bookplate will be added to thank those individuals who donated the book. We greatly appreciate your generosity to our School community and thank you for your continued support.

Here are a few important dates to keep in mind:

Elementary Instrumental Enrollment period:  It is open now, through Friday, September 8.  How do you enroll your student?  Please review the slideshow link shared above.

Instrument pick up:  We will not be hosting an instrument pick up this year.  Instead, instruments will be delivered to the schools during the week of September 11.  Your student will not need to have access to their instrument prior to their first lesson (when they will receive their instrument, as long as it has been rented from David French Music prior to Friday, September 8).  If you choose to rent from another rental company, you will need to arrange pick up of the instrument with that company.  For more information about instrument rentals, please review the link to the slideshow above.

When is the first lesson?  During the week of September 11

Parent Information Night (virtual):  We will be sharing a date for an optional zoom parent meeting to provide an overview of the program as well as answer questions.  The meeting will be scheduled the week after the Labor Day holiday and more information will be shared soon via your principal including the meeting link info.

Deadline to rent an instrument:  Friday, September 8 in order for the instrument to be delivered to the school, if you utilize David French Music Company.  David French will be the only company making deliveries to the schools.  Please refer back to the slideshow link above for more information.

Please reach out if you need any additional information!
