Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up in November and we look forward to meeting with families and communicating your child's academic and social growth this year. If you have a concern or question about your child's performance, be sure to reach out to the classroom teacher in advance of your conference so we are prepared. The conference links were emailed this past week or can be found in this newsletter. We are also offering childcare on the morning of Wednesday, November 4.

Important Reminder: Motor Vehicle Idling Policy

To help keep our school environment safe and clean, we kindly remind all drivers to adhere to our Motor Vehicle Idling Policy. Pursuant to Massachusetts General Law (M.G.L. c. 90, § 16B), prolonged idling of any bus or motor vehicle on school grounds is strictly prohibited and subject to fines. When dropping off or picking up your child, please remember to turn off your engine if you are stopped for an extended period. By turning off your vehicle while waiting, you directly contribute to reducing air pollution, improving local air quality, and protecting the health and well-being of all our students. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school grounds healthy and safe!

Sign Up for Parent / Teacher Conferences

Conferences will be held on Tue, Nov 3 (8:55 AM - 3:00 PM) and Wed, Nov 4 (8:55 AM - 10:30 AM).  These are the only conference days on the WPS calendar for the 2026-2027 academic year.  Click here to sign up for a 15-minute conference. 

Important Schedule & Childcare Notes

• Tue, Nov 3, 2026 - No School

• Wed, Nov 4, 2026 - 2 hour delay (School hours: 10:55 AM - 3:00 PM)

• There will be NO Early Morning Arrival Program on Nov 4.  However, childcare will be available at Day School from 8:55AM to 10:55AM, for our students.  Click here for details and to register for childcare on November 4.

Lost and Sound

Happy Halloween season! We have a quick reminder to help keep our music lessons running smoothly when instruments take an unexpected "ghost day."

If your child forgets their instrument on lesson day:

• You're welcome to drop it off at school

• Leave it on the table in the lobby next to the cafeteria doors, no need to have Ms. Norton or Mrs. Chintapalli call the classroom

• We'll send your musician down to check for it before their lesson

Our goal: Keep every student playing, even when instruments go missing in the morning rush!

Reminder, our lesson day is:

• Grade 3: Thursday

• Grades 4 and 5: Friday

Thank you for helping us avoid any spooky, silent lessons.

Parents & Guardians picking up students at dismissal or from after school clubs or activities are required to show a valid Day School Vehicle ID card.

• You must display your Vehicle ID Card in your windshield and visible to the staff on duty when you pick up your child from school.

• For safety reasons, no child will be released to a vehicle that either has no Vehicle ID Card displayed, or the wrong Vehicle ID Card.

• Please allow 2 school days to receive your placard. It will be sent home with your child.

• The Vehicle ID Request Form must be completed by a parent or guardian; your acknowledgement on each section of the form will serve as your electronic signature.

The Norman E. Day School Library has an Amazon Wishlist! Ms. McGann, our School Librarian, has created an Amazon Wishlist of books consisting of popular and award-winning titles, teacher recommendations, and requests by students. At this time, Ms. McGann is encouraging Parents/Guardians/Caregivers to help build our School Library Collection by donating a book from the List. Once a book has been received, it will be added to the Day School Library Collection and a personalized, permanent bookplate will be added to thank those individuals who donated the book. We greatly appreciate your generosity to our School community and thank you for your continued support.
