It was great to see so many families join us for Back to School Night last Thursday. Check out our Back-to-School Presentation in this newsletter to learn more about our school community! You’ll find details about our special subject teachers, health clinic, and WIN intervention program, as well as updates from our amazing PTO. The slideshow also includes key front office contacts and instructions on completing a CORI check if you’d like to volunteer.
We kept the link open to register for instrumental classes. We are also opening up registration for chorus. Please note we are changing the day of Chorus to Thursday mornings so interested students can participate in both both band/orchestra (which will take place on Friday mornings) and chorus.
We need volunteers to help students harvest and prepare vegetables from our school garden. Please find a link to sign up in this newsletter.
School is closed on Monday in observance of Yom Kippur.

Wellness Update
Happy Fall!
The school year is off to a great start. The kids are happy to be back in the gym and moving around. As a reminder, please make sure everyone has sneakers and dresses accordingly for the weather. I try to keep them outside until mid November. Layers are always best!
We will be working on establishing classroom routines, safe and cooperative play while engaging in some fall favorites such as flag football, soccer, and capture the flag. We just finished with a few different games like Fastest Tagger in the West, Noodle Drop and Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Cones.

It is the responsibility of the Westford Public Schools to identify any child who may have a disability who is either a resident of Westford or who attends a private school within the geographic boundaries of Westford even if the student is not a resident of Westford. This alos includes students who are homeschooled.
Westford Public Schools is also responsible for the evaluation of those students to determine if they are eligible for special education or related services under Federal law, IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) or, Massachusetts State Law, 603 CMR 28 (Massachusetts Special Education Regulations).
Westford Public Schools is also committed to identifying children before their 3rd birthday in order to provide early intervention services for three and four year-olds with disabilities. If you have questions or concerns regarding your child's development and would like to have them screened, please contact Melissa Boylan, Director of Special Education and Social Emotional Learning, at mboylan@westfordk12.us
If you suspect that your child may need an evaluation to determine eligibility for special education services, you may request an evaluation, at no cost, through Westford Public Schools, Office of Special Education and Social Emotional Learning.

Elementary Instrumental Music Program

Dear Families,
We are excited to announce that sign-up is now open for Day Chorus for all interested 5th graders!
Chorus is a free activity for students who enjoy singing, would like to learn more about singing, and are willing to participate in weekly rehearsals and performances.
Rehearsals will be held every Thursday morning from 8:00–8:45 AM, beginning Thursday, October 1st.

Welcome to the Day School! I hope you all had a wonderful summer. My name is Connor Crivello, and I’m your child’s school nurse. I’m looking forward to getting to know your child and supporting them throughout the school year!
Allergies
If your child has a life-threatening allergy, new allergy, or takes medication during the school day, please reach out and let me know. EpiPens, inhalers, allergy medications, and other medications require a physician’s order. Orders can be submitted in paper, electronic or fax formats.
Medication Drop Off
Medications can be dropped off on Tuesday, 9/1/26, or anytime next week during school hours. Controlled medications must be brought in by an adult.
Health Changes
Please also let me know about any significant health changes or existing injuries so I can best support your child.
Forms
All necessary forms are available on the WPS website and should be signed by both a parent/guardian and physician.
Emergency Cards
Lastly, please be on the lookout for a paper emergency card from the clinic. Kindly fill it out and return it as soon as possible.

The Norman E. Day School Library has an Amazon Wishlist! Ms. McGann, our School Librarian, has created an Amazon Wishlist of books consisting of popular and award-winning titles, teacher recommendations, and requests by students. At this time, Ms. McGann is encouraging Parents/Guardians/Caregivers to help build our School Library Collection by donating a book from the List. Once a book has been received, it will be added to the Day School Library Collection and a personalized, permanent bookplate will be added to thank those individuals who donated the book. We greatly appreciate your generosity to our School community and thank you for your continued support.

Meals for School Year 2026-2027 will be free for all students enrolled in Westford Public Schools. No pre-ordering is required.
Additional lunch: $3.25; Dessert: $0.75; A la carte Milk: $0.75
Breakfast is free and available daily in the school cafeteria. All breakfasts are served as a complete meal in accordance with USDA guidelines for school meals.

Library Card Sign-Up Month
September is Library Card Sign-Up Month! A library card offers a front-row seat to everything the library offers, from books and technology to lifelong learning and imagination.
Please stop in to the Children's Room, at the J. V. Fletcher Library's temporary location (515 Groton Road), during the week of Monday, September14th through Friday, September 18th, to register your child for their own J. V. Fletcher Library card. We will have goodies, a fun photo backdrop, and props to celebrate this special moment.

Robinson School Building Project
Thank you for registering and joining last week's forum on enrollment and redistricting for the RSBC/Elementary Building Project. We know how many things compete for your time at this point in the year and at that time of day. Thank you for spending part of it with us.
I know there were technical difficulties making some of the slides hard to read. The full presentation is now uploaded to the project website as well as the recording in case you'd like to rewatch (note: Youtube allows you to speed up the playback so it goes quicker). A reminder that the survey to rank the decision criteria for enrollment and preschool is still open until 9/21 (QR code in slides).
