This year I had decided to take up the role of 'Social Media Manager' for Love Ocean Life Club. This entailed marketing the club to the student body and managing the Instagram account (e.g. updating followers and posting milestones). This was new for me since I usually stick to being an active member, but it was a good experience nonetheless since I could use Canva for my passion of creating new aesthetics.
Some obstacles I faced were as follows: I second-guessed my abilities since many students would see these posts, due to my fear of being judged. Paired with my perfectionistic tendencies, creating posts were difficult at first since I found myself nitpicking at designs that were already adequate. However, from this experience I have learned not to doubt my abilities as much as before, and have become more confident in sharing my artistic work with the general public.
In the end I was able to develop valuable skills contributing to my personal character. Additionally, by showing commitment to my club position I have powered through these insecurities in order to fulfill my duty as the leaders have tasked me with.
