At the start of the school year, in addition to writing for the school website, I was also tasked with creating infographics for Wells' clubs. These posters were mainly to help new students get acquainted with clubs that may pique their interests.
Writing little blurbs about each club was fairly simple, however finding colors and positioning each image with the text took far longer, and was more tedious than I'd imagined. I had to categorize each club into categories like, 'Language clubs', and 'Leisure clubs', and fit each club in accordingly. This required a lot of creativity to find a way to make the posters look appealing, whilst still having all the necessary information. This proccess was very time-consuming, and I had to split the work up between 2 days, while simultaneously managing all my school work as a senior. Nevertheless, I was quite pleased with the outcome, and had bettered my knowledge of Canva and graphic design techniques (e.g. removing backgrounds of images & matching colors)
This experience has taught me the importance of taking creative initiative to help our community. Although it took me a very long time to complete, the posters may be used for years since it's located on the CAS website, and was included in our principal's weekly emails. Furthermore, it taught me the importance of time management and diligence when working on a big project, since the quality may suffer if one chooses to procrastinate.
