This year I decided to step out of my comfort zone to do a fast-paced K-pop dance for International Day since this is the last International Day I will spend at Wells. The song was titled, 'Left Right' by XG. Upon seeing it for the first time I realized I had underestimated how difficult this would be. Nevertheless, I went to all the rehearsals over the span of a month and tried my best to keep up. With lots of support from the other girls we managed to make it come together, and aced the audition.
I faced many obstacles during these practices. For one, I got tired rather quickly and found myself overwhelmed with how fast the music was. I also felt frustrated since I felt like I was holding everyone back. Nonetheless, everyone was still supportive and had no problem repeating the steps with me. This assurance allowed me to keep exerting myself, and eventually master the steps.
From this, I learned the power of collaboration since I wouldn't have been able to do it without the support of my team, especially since I got quite disheartened in the midst of our practices when I wasn't picking it up as quickly as everyone else. Furthermore, I was able to learn how to work in high-pressure situations in an area I wasn't good at which led me to stepping out of my comfort zone and becoming more confident. I also showcased my commitment to the dance, by not giving up when it got too tough.
