Boys basketball on the road to success

By: Rylee Campbell

The Wauseon boys basketball team, coached by Chad Burt, is undergoing another very successful season, just like last year. The boys team had three seniors graduate last year: Carter Bzovi, Brendan Britsch and Logan Hines, but still continues to win on the court this year. Their record last year was 27-2, losing to Genoa and Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary. The two losses for the Indians last year were largely spaced out. Their first loss to Genoa was their second game of the season (the Indians were victorious in this year's match-up), while their second loss was the last game of the season against Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary, where they earned a State Runner Up title.

Even while losing three seniors, they are still on the road to success. Their team this year consists of nine returning letter-winners, including seniors Austin Rotroff, Brooks Gype, Owen Newlove, CJ Moser, Dawson Rupp, Dalton Rice and Everett Bueter, juniors Levi Seiler, Trevor Rodriguez and Trent Armstrong and sophomores Noah Tester and Sean Brock. The boys team has a well rounded amount of players, who can all be assets to the team along the way. They have many players that can be subbed in at any moment, just to give different looks against many different teams.

Last year, the boys were ranked eighth in state, while this year they are ranked first in the second Associated Press Division II Poll. The Indians are currently 16-0, and have six games left in their regular season. They continue to battle and fight for the win every single game. The boys basketball team works hard every day and are very dedicated, getting them to the spot they are now. They have earned their spot and continue to keep working, because they know nothing good comes easy. The Indians are having a very successful season, and are making the Wauseon Community proud.
