It has been a fantastic learning opportunity, and I look forward to sharing some of my learning with you. Frequently, as I have been learning new content and demonstrating my understanding, it has challenged me to ground into our core values as Technology & Innovation team in Waukee. I have felt firsthand the correlation to our vision statement and our supporting values.
While some might think coding is only related to technology, I would argue the mindset and problem-solving coding provides can be utilized in any content area. There are many deep and meaningful connections to be made and to help push our learners' thinking outside of the box.

Hi! My name is Amanda DeGroote. I work in Waukee Community School District in Waukee, Iowa.
This is my 18th year in education. I have previously taught middle school exploratory Spanish and high school Spanish I-IV classes. In 2015, I transitioned out of the classroom to a middle school (6th & 7th grades) Instructional Coach.
I have always been passionate about technology and frequently found myself gravitating towards technology integration & innovative practices in the classroom.
In 2020, the WCSD Technology & Innovation team expanded. I was able to shift roles to support secondary buildings as a Technology & Innovation Leader for the district. I am passionate about making instruction engaging, creative, and accessible for all students. This has been my dream job and I am so lucky to get to learn each & every day while working with such amazing educators.
