• Accessibility features are much easier to utilize for all users.
• Adding Assignments, Quizzes, Links, etc. allows teachers to lock students within the Canvas Student App when using Classroom.
• For Example: if https://www.nasa.gov is added to a module, students can only navigate on this website.
• Depending on formatting, may not be able to utilize accessibility features easily.
• Links within Pages allow students to open Safari fully and navigate to whichever website they want.
• If an assignment or quiz is linked within the page students can still only be within the Canvas Student App if locked in with Apple Classroom.
The Canvas Community is a resource available for all users to learn more about their products, ask questions, find available resources and much more.

Here are some of my favorites:

Email/message based on assignment completion.
I love the feature in the grade book that allows you to email/message students based on whether a certain assignment has been graded, not turned in, or based on certain grades. This can be found on the 3 dots where you find the Speed Grader option -- "message students who." - Callie Pinz
Utilize the question bank (and add to it).
Make use of the question banks!! I add to them every year. It makes cheating a little more difficult and helping each other a lot more possible. Since each student is getting a slightly different question (randomly chosen from the bank), they can't copy answers, instead they have to explain how to find the correct answer. Voila ... they're learning!! - Christine Ashmore-Good
Use keyboard shortcuts to save time.
In Canvas, you can highlight text and use Ctrl + K to insert a link and force that link to open in a new tab.
This helps students to stay in the correct location within Canvas because it does not open the link in the current window. Instead, it opens a new tab and they retain the Canvas tab where they originally clicked the link. When they are finished with whatever they need to do on the additional tab, they can simply close it out.- Kim Shaw
In the Canvas Community, there are many different resources to explore. One that I recently came across was a "Canvas Infographic Bonanza". As instructors, you can explore this collection of infographics, tips, and interactive content created by Stephenie.
Check out a few infographics below with some ideas of what else you can do with Canvas Modules, Assignments, or Quizzes.
If you want to double-check that the links work correctly in your Canvas course, you can easily do that with the Validate Links in Content option!
Click on your current course.
Click Settings on the lower lefthand side.
In Settings, on the right side of the course details page click on Validate Links in Content.
Once the validator has run, it will show you any broken links you might have throughout your course. (Published & unpublished content)
Within Canvas, you are able to use Microsoft Immersive Reader. This is a tool to help students with reading struggles. Students will find the button within the Canvas page.
Additionally, the Microsoft Immersive Reader button is supported in Assignments, the Course Home Page, and the Syllabus. This change allows additional resources to be used with the Microsoft Immersive Reader! You can find more information about Microsoft Immersive Reader here.
Some features include; speaking the text aloud, highlighting the words as they are spoken, text preferences of size, color, and font, color coding specific parts of speech, line focus, translation, and more!
As many of us are using Keynote, Numbers, Pages, as well as other Apple apps, there have been some questions about how to have students receive a copy of the file.
In Canvas, you can add the iWork files to your modules or Week at a Glance page for students to download!
This is a way also to ensure all students can get a copy. If a student is absent or on a loaner device they would not be able to receive the files from the Classroom app.
In Canvas, I created a module with six ready-to-use quick ideas & activities that can be used in any classroom.
Access the Module and download the file to use in your classroom!
