💭💡Effective thinkers make their thinking, visible. Meaning they externalize their thoughts through speaking, writing, drawing, or some other method. They can then direct and improve those thoughts. Visible Thinking also emphasizes documenting thinking for later reflection.
Check out this ready to use activity to prompt student thinking. Students can choose from two types of prompts to share their visible thinking or a think aloud. Utilizing Live Video and Audio Recordings features in Keynote to create a quick and easy way for personal reflection.

Dr. Catlin Tucker is a fantastic resource for blended learning ideas for your classroom! She has a guest post on her blog this month about starting the year with Station Rotations.
"The station rotation model is a great way to introduce your class expectations to a new group of students while simultaneously building relationships and developing your class community. In this post, I’ll share some strategies and resources I found useful when preparing to use the station rotation model at the beginning of the school year."
A question I have been getting frequently is "How can I use timers in my classroom more effectively or without using a YouTube link?" YouTube times can be a great option, but if the internet is not working properly, that gets a bit tricky!
The Clock App is a great option that you can have on your MacBook or iPad. To use the Clock app on your MacBook you will need to be upgraded to macOS Ventura. (Directions below to upgrade your devices...)
Clock App
Use Clock on your Mac to see the time in cities around the world, set an alarm, use a stopwatch, and start a timer. You can also explore the Clock User Guide for macOS Ventura.
Explore the Clock App on your iPad to set timers or a stopwatch. You can also set an alarm or use the World Clocks. With Split View or Slide Over you can also have multiple windows visible at once.
An end of class routine creates a sense of predictability and maximizes the impact of the last few minutes of the block/period. Having a few different activities for this in your teacher "toolkit" is always helpful! Here are a few different ideas I put together to use as end of class activities to try out. Scroll through the PDF to find an idea that you might like to use or recreate. The original file is a Keynote presentation. Download a Copy to modify or use!
Graphic organizers are powerful visual representations that help students visualize problems, organize key information, surface the interconnection of ideas, connect new information with previous information, and make abstract concepts more concrete. Check out the resource with over 20 different graphic organizers ready to use in your classroom!
Resource Download: You can download this Keynote Template I created that includes over twenty different graphic organizers and media placeholder pages to help students organize their thoughts, questions, information, etc.
Directions for Use: To download the resource on the Apple Education Forum, sign in with your Apple ID (WCSD Email or Personal). As many of us are using Keynote, Numbers, Pages, as well as other Apple apps, there have been some questions about how to have students receive a copy of the file. In Canvas, you can add the iWork files to your modules or Week at a Glance page for students to download!
This is a way also to ensure all students can get a copy. If a student is absent or on a loaner device they would not be able to receive the files from the Classroom app.
In Canvas, I created a module with six ready-to-use quick ideas & activities that can be used in any classroom.
Access the Module and download the file to use in your classroom!
