Friday - Travel Day
On April 19th, 2024, the Advanced Band of Wallkill Valley Regional High School headed to Boston, Massachusetts. The 5 hour long bus ride was awesome as everyone was excited for what was ahead. First stop was the Museum Of Science.

They learned about the Charles River's interesting history and other interesting facts about history and science. The next stop was dinner at Maggiano's Little Italy, an Italian family-style restaurant. They enjoyed a good time sharing plates of delicious Italian food! Finally, it was time to check in. After arriving at the Boston Quincy Marriott everyone was checked in and went off to their rooms to rest up for the big day ahead of them! Passing through some really interesting landmarks, this band was on a tour! After the long ride, the band finally made its way into Boston. Their first stop was the Boston Museum of Science.
Saturday - The Competition
Before heading out on Saturday morning, the band members enjoyed breakfast at the hotel to gain some energy for the day! After, they went on a tour of the Freedom Trail, where they learned more about the history of the city. Followed by shopping in Quincy Market and lunch, the band enjoyed exploring and sharing some signature Bostonian meals like lobster rolls and chowder. The band went on a land and water tour upon the amphibious duck boats where their boat lost control and almost had to get towed out of the water.

Luckily, the boat suddenly regained control. While this setback left them a little shook up, they felt ready! They arrived safely on land and rushed over to the performance venue where they had an awesome clinic with Charles Peltz, band director at the New England Conservatory. That evening, they went to a really cool buffet-style restaurant where the band selected ingredients to make some really delicious dishes! The final event of the night was a performance by the Blue Man Group, which was a fever dream in itself. It was interesting and entertaining to hear their music. After the show, the band ventured back to the hotel to rest up for the next day's big events.
Sunday - Splash!
The Advanced Band enjoyed their final moments in Boston at the New England Aquarium! They saw penguins, sea lions, turtles, and so many other unique fish. It was HUGE, but it was also so beautiful. There was a touch tank and a shark exhibit. They learned so much about aquatic life before heading back home to New Jersey!
