Wallkill Valley's auditorium will be getting a fresh new look this year. Since the opening of the school in 1982, the auditorium has not seen any significant updates, so this is a well-deserved, anticipated renovation. Aside from assemblies and study halls, the auditorium is also an important space for our choir and band students to perform concerts as well as the big event of the school year: the school play.
Renovations are currently in progress and The Valley Voice intends to keep track and share updates on the progress. The Auditorium at Wallkill is the heart of the school. It is a place where many fun events and meetings are held. The auditorium is especially important to the students in drama, choir, and band as it is the place to showcase all the amazing talent in our school.
Freshman Alex Mogavero states,"I remember when I first saw the auditorium. It was a lot smaller than I expected so I hope they make it seem bigger." It would be a welcome change for a larger space or at least the feel of one. It's not just space that seems to concern some students. "I also hope they make the auditorium colder," states Addison Smith, a Freshman here at Wallkill and a member of the choir. "It's sad that we will not be able to perform in the school this year, but it will be worth the wait!"
The auditorium is also important to other students who are not involved in the drama department, like Freshman, Isabella Lorenc, who states, "I've never really been in the auditorium because I'm a freshman, but I went to see the play last year and it looked really cool. I think the renovations will go well."
Mr. Devore of the Industrial Arts Department and his students from the Woods Tech class have also been helping out with the process by moving old set pieces to make room for the improvements.
Thanks to all of the amazing contractors, staff, and students, the Wallkill Valley Regional High School auditorium is in the process of getting an amazing makeover and will soon be able to offer our community a new and improved space to host events.
