Ecology is the science of living relationships among humans, plants and animals and the world around them. Wallkill Valley Regional High School is proud to introduce our very own Ecology Club led by science teacher, Miss Cassidy Jameson. The objective of this club is to encourage students to keep our environment nourished.
Participating students have the opportunity to apply the information learned from the Ecology Club to help maintain a healthy, thriving world.
🌱🌿
Miss Jameson's hope for the club is to teach everyone to understand our environment and our role in it. Not only are students involved with connecting to nature actively, physically and spiritually, they learn to lessen their negative
impact on the environment. Involvement also enables members to develop and enhance physical and mental skills. Most importantly, they are learning to protect and preserve wildlife and improve it for future generations.
Students should become a service to our community. Miss Jameson also wants "to teach others about what we have learned." - meaning that with all of our new information about ecology, we can also help our environment outside of school by attending meetings and participating in activities ranging from growing a garden, making sanctuaries for animals and even building a compost pile!
The Ecology Club will:
teach students various ways to be ecological
make new friendships
benefit our world around us
One small change can create something important. Joining the Ecology Club is that small change; it helps students, teachers, and others to be educated in what truly is happening to our environment. If we don't change our environment, it will keep getting more difficult to sustain. Therefore, the study of ecology is slowly helping our planet.
Let's be mindful of how we use our ecosystem and how we can change it for the better. There is hope!
One person can't save the entire planet!
Ecology Club is for all grade levels.
Meetings are held monthly unless stated. Miss Jameson noted, "Some months we may have more meetings than others."
Activities are located in and outside of school. One can sign up by stopping at M231 or sending an email and joining its Google Classroom.
