As we celebrate National School Counselor Week, please join me in recognizing and thanking Ms. Jeannie Martin and Mrs. Kendall Broussard for all the incredible work they do on our campus. Their dedication, support, and care make a lasting impact on our students and staff every day, and we are beyond grateful for everything they do.
To show our appreciation, students are encouraged to create special and meaningful cards for them—let’s take a moment to let them know just how much they are valued and appreciated. Your thoughtful messages will make their week even brighter!
Black History Month Daily Announcements and Slideshow Presentations
In celebration of Black History Month this February, we have an exciting plan to highlight the contributions of African Americans each day:
Morning Announcements: Each day, a selected student will read a short passage about a famous African American.
Slideshow Presentation: In addition, we will provide a slideshow about a different famous African American musician each day. Please share this slideshow with your class at a time that works best for you.
The combination of the daily readings and the slideshows will give students a well-rounded understanding of Black history, focusing on influential figures and musicians.
Thank you for your support in making this a meaningful and engaging experience for our students!

January 2025- 2 Major Office Referrals
One of our goals this year is to decrease the number of major office discipline referrals from students. We have seen a big drop in office referrals for the first half of the year, and we see how much everyone is holding students accountable! Please continue to help us reinforce expectations at CPE to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all as we move into February. We got this!!

This week we want to Spotlight Mrs. Ashley Gremillion, our amazing STEM teacher! Her dedication to creating exciting, hands-on challenges makes learning fun and impactful. Through her innovative approach, Mrs. Ashley inspires her students to think critically, work together, and develop a passion for problem-solving. She’s not just teaching concepts—she’s instilling perseverance, creativity, and a love of learning that will serve her students for years to come. We’re incredibly lucky to have someone as passionate and inspiring as Mrs. Ashley shaping the next generation of innovators!
This week, her students took on the Basketball Catapult Challenge, where they designed and built their own basketball hoops and catapults using provided materials. After reading Salt in the Shoes to learn about perseverance from Michael Jordan’s story, the students dove into the design and construction process. Once their creations were ready, they practiced shooting pom-poms into the hoops, refining their designs and learning through hands-on experimentation. The challenge sparked creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving—key aspects of STEM that Mrs. Ashley fosters in every lesson.
⭐LEAP Testing Rewards ⭐

🎉DIBELS MOY to EOY Incentive🎉
Exciting New ZEARN Incentive Starting Monday, January 6!
In addition to the existing ZEARN rewards, we're adding new incentives to encourage students to complete their lessons! Here's how it works:
When: Starting Monday, January 6
Who: To be considered for the incentive, each class in each grade will need a minimum of 80% of their students to complete 3 or more on-grade level lessons each week. The class that has the most on-level lessons completed, with at least 80% of its students completing the lessons, will earn an extra snack from the snack cart each week.
If there is a week in pacing where only 2 lessons are taught, you will need to assign another on-level lesson during that week.
The Math teacher of the winning class will also be treated to a snack and drink from the teacher cart as a special thank you for their hard work and dedication.
We hope this new incentive will inspire even more learning and fun in the classroom! Let's get ready to make the most of ZEARN!!
Please note: We will continue recognizing HRs and updating the Zearn board each week. 😊 This process will remain the same!
NEW AR Reading Incentive– Let’s Get Excited! 📚🎉
We’re kicking off the second half of the year with a fun and motivating AR reading challenge! Each week, we’ll be tracking the progress of every homeroom in AR reading, and the class with the highest AR points earned in a week in each grade level will earn some awesome rewards! 🎯
The winning students will get an extra snack from the snack cart 🍪, and the reading teachers will get to pick a treat and drink from the teacher cart! 🥤🎉
Let’s hit the ground running and make reading a top priority—together, we can make this a fun and exciting challenge that encourages everyone to read more, earn points, and have a blast doing it! 🚀 Let’s go, team! 📖🌟
Please note: We will continue recognizing students and updating the AR point board each week as they advance through the levels. 😊 This process will remain the same!
