Hi there! I’m Molly Foster, the K–5 art teacher here at Millersport Elementary. A little about me: I’m currently in my fourth year and absolutely love being part of this community!
My husband and son are firefighters for the City of Columbus. Our son is also part-time firefighter with Walnut Township and our daughter is currently a host at The Buckeye Lake Yacht Club. Outside of school, I enjoy walking, hiking and finding inspiration to bring fresh ideas into the classroom. I also like baking cookies, spoiling our dog Uno, and sampling all the seasonal drinks from Millersport Coffee! In addition, I love creating new themes for our annual K–5 art show - last year’s farmer’s market theme was so fun! The show for this school year is planned for April 29th, so be sure to check it out to see what theme students are working on this year!
Before joining Millersport Elementary, I spent seven years with Bloom-Carroll Schools. Prior to that, I worked 20 years for a large insurance company in downtown Columbus, serving as a graphic designer for the last 10 of those years. I also recently taught art camp at an art studio and take joy in bringing my real-world experience into the classroom. Last year, I had the opportunity to hold an art club during indoor recess for our 4th and 5th graders who chose to do so, from January through March. It was a lot of fun giving students who love art a creative outlet during the cold winter months!
As far as education, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Visual Communication/Cross-Disciplinary Studies, with a minor in Art, from Ohio Dominican University, where I combined Visual Communications with K–8 Elementary Education. I also hold a K–12 Visual Arts Alternative Resident Educator License through The Ohio State University…and I continue to learn from our students everyday!
