Hello! My name is Greg Hines. I’m a high school English teacher here at Millersport. I graduated from Bowling Green State University obtaining a bachelor’s degree of science in Adolescent to Young Adult English Language Arts education (often abbreviated as AYA ELA). I began my education career in Sidney, Ohio where I taught for three years alongside coaching bowling. In my endeavors to transition closer to home, I moved back to the Columbus area where I grew up and began applying for schools within driving distance. This was when I was granted an interview opportunity with WTLSD where I was interviewed by Jeff Stought and offered a position teaching 9th and 10th grade English through the 2015-2016 school year. That was the day I would later discover that I had found my “home” in education. I then pursued and obtained a master’s degree in English education through Ohio University in 2020 to enhance the opportunities I am able to provide for my students.
Since I’ve been an educator here in Millersport, I have tried to involve myself in many miscellaneous ways. I created a board game club which I had to set aside due to my fairly new responsibilities as a father. I have served as an after school detention monitor the past few years. I am also the current Quiz Team advisor for the district. The high school student body also selected me to receive an “appreciation” award which the School Board presented to me in 2025.
To this day, working with my students through both their educational and emotional needs is where my passion resides. I thank them everyday for providing me with the opportunity to feel fulfilled in my career as an educator.
